Teeny Bopper Fashion Choices

I've read many a designer describe their inspiration as coming from the streets, from the youth, from what the kids are wearing. "They just don't care, and they try things that adults are afraid to do."

Well, I'm just not sure that should be the case. At least based on the gaggle of about twenty adolescents sharing my plane with me. (Just my luck.) I saw nothing inspired. Lots of outfits that were just fine (if you let your teenaged girl wear skin tight clothes). And lots of copy cats. At least four of them were wearing braided pigtails, all of them were wearing brand new D.C. tourist T-shirts (baby-doll, of course), and low-rise jeans. Shoulder-duster earrings. Again, that just doesn't seem O.K. in the teenaged years.

Not to mention they were just plain old annoying. And I have a soft spot for people they were picking on. Yeah. The cute girls were picking on the non-cool kids. That is SO not fashionable.

Hmmm, i'm thinking those "youths" the designers are talking about are the urban, artistic kids. Not the suburban, midwestern, future soccer moms of amercia kids. whoa, did i just say that. sorry, but true. And you, my dear, were on the plane with the later. :(
