You're disappointing me.
Here I go through this long crying jag and apology for my sins against DC Style, and...
all I see on the Metro is blah.
Blah, blah, blah.
I know it's hot out.
I know you don't feel like spending any time on your clothes because you'll be soggy by the time you transfer twice and walk 6 blocks.
I know hairdryers are a cardinal sin right now - it's just too darn hot.
But...
A fitted, untucked button down & black pants?
Please.
You have more creativity than that. I know you do.
And I know how you feel. I'm in the same boat. I've worn black pants twice this week, 'cause I can't bother to pull anything else out of the closet. But I've got my Lawrence, Kansas, bracelet on. And it makes all the difference. I promise.
It takes 3 seconds to pull out a brooch, a bracelet, a big necklace, showcase earrings, or a bright bag. One of those things will make it all better. A blah outfit is so easily transformed with an accessory.
Don't have anything? Get thee to Target! Raid the accessories department. Claire's, Macy's sale racks of jewelry. It's all within $10, I swear.
And then get on the Metro tomorrow morning with pride.

I do admit that when I know I'll be working 8-430 and then 6-Midnight, I will go for comfort over fashion, BUT I always have hott earrings and hair. And personality, haha.
Precisely, Scarlet. Add the touches, then boring becomes sophisticated personality. Why does the rest of the world not get this?
You are so right, DC Celine. I am probably guilty of not using brooches (and the like) enough...
Does a colorful (and tasty) cocktail count as an accessory?
(I did notice your very clever pairing of white silk and champagne in your profile photo... I'd call that great accessorizing!)
Liquid Muse - Yup, absolutely. Pretty cocktails = hip accessory. I sense a new trend coming on...I'll see what I can do about getting it to replace purse dogs on my trip to NYC.
And thank you...I did do nicely on the cocktail accessorizing...it's cava, btw...I think it pairs nicely with the antique gold & pearls.
