NYC Honeymoon Report, Day 2 - Part 2

Sufficiently cooled, we wandered off from our little French bar, back out into Chelsea design.

Round and round we went, first stop, IIKH. Pretty little ecostore with lovely things. Smells good, too. They have their own line of candles. I'm not a huge fan of smelly candles, but these are perfectly clean, real scents. Orange flower, lime blossom, black tea, tomato (yup! and it really smells like summer tomatoes)...basil's burning next to me right now. Our bedroom smells like a clean garden. We got to chatting with the owner, Mara Kloiber, and as it turns out, she grew up in NoVa. She & brother Jim opened this store on the edge of things - so go visit them & buy lots - support DC Style in NYC! (And new & improved website to launch soon, so you can get tomato candles here!)

Around the corner & across the street to Bodum. Café and store. Big store. Found great natural fiber placemats in orange, brown, and natural. On sale, of course. While I wandered the rest of Swiss-World, H had a cupa Earl Grey. Perfect pick-me-up.

Then there's DDC Lab NY. Like the rest of New York in July/August, huge sale. Right between the Puma & Stella McCartney stores (sigh again). There was a whole table in the back of the store - jeans, piles of jeans, for $50. $200+ jeans for $50. Tried on a bunch, and H & I each ended up with a pair. His are a great antiqued wash, barely baggy straight leg. Mine are a gorgeous indigo straigher-legged trouser with fun flap pockets. I'll take a pic & show you soon. Vanessa, who staffs the store regularly, was a sweetheart, and in addition to lots of help (and cold water!), she recommened we check out the up-and-coming Lower East Side 'hood 'round Ludlow Street.

It was already late, pushing 6, so lots of stores were closing (Scoop was already locked up), but there were a few still open, including GirlShop. Quick dash in there, tried on a pair of Sonia Rykel suit shorts - they just didn't fit me well...oh well...

And we're still only part way through Day 2...

Oh, and I'm only just getting started. I may bore my 3 readers to death, but it's also my way of remembering things.
