I'm not a fan of the "Top Design" show - I think they just let what could've been interesting go flat. However, I sure have a good design challenge for them - provided they don't hang any wierd crap in the middle of my room.
I've spent a good part of today trying to map out the New Layout for our bedroom, which The Bean will share with us for a while. Try adding a changing table, a crib, and more storage, all into a room that's already packed to the gills.
Lemme tell ya, it's fun. Fun with Visio. I've even got my dad on it with his engineering skills and Autocad.
There's trying to fit in as much storage as possible. There's trying to make sure the crib and changing table are in a good place. And we won't even mention that style is going right out the window - sort of. Or at least it seems so. Our furniture now is a hodgepodge of woods. It'll only get worse with the influx of new stuff. We can't decide whether or not to get rid of some things we already have, which are really practical, but don't go with anything. We can't decide what we really need. And we have limited time in which to do it. Stressball. Both of us.
What we probably need is someone to come in here, like one of those crazy designers or closet organizer people, and tell us what to do. Maybe somewhere out there is a solution that maximizes space, looks pretty good (and not just like we shoved everything against the wall), and doesn't cost us a fortune.
Like that's going to happen.
Wish us luck.
