Well, this time last year, I was giving Vivian advice on where to shop on her trip to DC, having my toenails painted in time for The Bean's arrival, and trying to decide what to wear to the hospital (ok, all this reminiscing and reading the post I wrote on the day she decided to commence her arrival is making me teary-eyed. Hormones, memories, and an approaching Big Moment of her birthday are not conducive to keeping on the mascara.) I never did really figure out the perfect Hospial outfit - think I wore yoga pants and a T. It's a bit of a blur.
So much has happened since then. More babies have been born (31204ever's Bean arrived, LilSis is due in November, I finished my thesis!, 400 proposals have been written, and I've changed approximately 3 million diapers). But one thing remains the same: The Style Dilemma.
The Dilemma never goes away.
The Bean's First Birthday is Friday, and we're having a small shindig at my Daddy's house to celebrate - family sorta thing, but I still have to look good for The Pictures and The Video. We wouldn't want her boyfriends to be to think Mommy's a dweeb when we embarass her with the footage 18 years from now.
So my dilemma requirements? Cool, fitted (not mom-slouchy), color, 2 pieces (still need - ahem - access). Probably a skirt.
I'll have one evening to find it, at White Flint Mall. Bloomingdale's and Mall Stores. My initial online pre-shopping research is depressing...no color, no fitted, and if I see one more A-line or full skirt (which just make my broad - though slim - hips look even wider - hourglass, my a@@), I'll scream.
Must do some actual paying work now, but will post pics of online finds and thoughts as I can...in the meantime, suggestions welcome...

I love a good style challenge. I'm a huge fan of neutral pencil skirts outside the office with a simple, casual top. Makes for an easy pulled-together look. How about this one form Banana (there's a Banana at White Flint, right?) http://www.bananarepublic.com/browse/product.do?cid=17052&pid=583291&scid=583291002
with a simple fitted T or button-down, cute flats and a colorful scarf?
i'm a fan of nice 'dress' shorts with a pretty colorful breezy summer top - maybe a pretty tunic?
shorts like these - http://www1.bloomingdales.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=114124&CategoryID=9689&PageID=9689*1*24*-1*-1*Y*21. with pretty flat leather sandals? i think it's casual but very sheik.
