Mingle in Style: Living Chic Blog Launch Party

...with Stacy London!

Yes, that Stacy.

The gals at Urban Chic are launching their blog, Living Chic, and throwing not one, but two parties to celebrate.

First, Wednesday, 22 July from 5-9pm at the Georgetown store (1626 Georgetown Ave), then

Second, following, an after party from 9-11 at Blue Ridge, down the street.

If I weren't traveling to Rocket City, USA (free "get of style jail free" card to the first person who knows where that is) for a good part of the week, I'd be there...

Shop in Style: Perfect Denim

Now, if only I could get these boutiques to hold events and sales when I can get there. Maybe the assumption is that we're all It Girls with no 9-5 jobs.

I'm in serious need of some denim updates.

Why: Denim. Sale. Need I say more?

Shop in Style: On the Row...

...Bethesda Row.

This one might just warrant a little covert operation of me having a - ahem - doctor's appointment in the afternoon. Normally, I'm such a concientious employee, but a girl's gotta have a wardrobe, and mine is piddly squat right now.

What: Bethesda Row Preview Trunk Show & Sale - Ginger Boutique, Urban Chic, Tickled Pink, and Lucy - the perfect excuse to check out the Row's redevelopment (make sure you check the link for all the fab new stores arriving soon!)

Where: 4836 Bethesda Avenue

When: Wednesday, 16 April, 12-8pm

Why: ummmmm...let's see...SALE? Maybe a reversible Kristin Kahle belt from Ginger, a pair of London Sole shoes from Urban Chic, a perky resort piece from Tickled Pink, and, so you can fit into it all and show off those newly toned arms, new workout gear from Lucy. And if you're there at happy hour, mmmm, Lebanese Taverna.

Shop in Style: About Town

Just a couple of goings on while I'm out of town (The Bean and I are visiting Grandmom & Pop-Pop in the country - she smelled her first pig manure this morning - exciting!, then meeting H down the shore - it's glorious not having a set work schedule - we'll talk abou the lack o' sleep and multiple rounds of "Old MacDonald" another time)

12 September: Unless you've been under a rock, you'll know that there are only 2 days left to the District Sample Sale.

15 September: H Street Festival Fashion Show

15 September: Ananas founder/designer, Jennifer Baum Lagdameo, appears at the Tyson's Cusp location

23-30 September: DC Fashion Week. Yup, we have one.

Ongoing: New to DC: Urban Chic's offering personal shopping during and after regular store hours at their Georgetown location
...and help a vacationing blogger out - if you check any of these events out, shoot me an email or post a comment...let us know how they were.

Style Dilemma: What Not to Miss in DC

Vivien wrote in, asking for tips on what not to miss in her upcoming 3 weeks in D.C. She's a saavy shopper, and wanted to know what 'hoods she should hit...and the best way to get there. From Vancouver, British Columbia, she's got some of the same stores, but...

Because she's going to be close to Georgetown proper, I'm sending her to our indie places like Sassanova, Wink, and Urban Chic. She also can't miss Barney's CoOp, H&M, and Intermix. I've practically made her promise to do Kafé Leopold, and recommended Hook, Rocklands, and DolceZZa.

Getting to and from Georgetown, sans Metro, feels really far to a non-Washingtonian, but I've assured her that, if the weather cooperates, it's a lovely walk from Foggy Bottom with lots of places to stop and "freshen up" along the way (Mie N Yu springs to mind, of course). Or, should she be laden with packages (or it's just too darn hot, or storming, like it has been lately), taxis are plentiful and not terribly expensive.

She shouldn't miss the U Street corridor, either, or islands in the downtown corporate stream, Alex and Apres Peau.

What else shouldn't Vivien miss in her time here? Help a girl out?

Shop in Style: Denim and Reality TV

You read that correctly. America's Next Top Model is hosting a Model Search at our own beloved Urban Chic. Even if you're "over" the idea of modeling (I just wouldn't want all that attention, really, I wouldn't), drop in for the scene and get a denim discount, too!

Shop in Style: Free spring into summer

Before you go load up on floaty summer dresses and sandals, take five minutes tomorrow (ok, it'll probably be a lot longer because of the lines) and hit Ben & Jerry's for a free cone! Celebrate the advent of airyness and sunny living in spite of our lovely weather.

Yup, Global Free Cone Day is back.
One cone won't hurt you...and you can even argue that you're getting lots of vitamin D & calcium with the milk! Taking your vitamins is stylish, right?
